Genicular Knee Ablation

Minimally invasive treatment for chronic knee pain

An alternative to a long-term medication regimen

Chronic knee pain can occur for a number of reasons. It can be the result of an injury. It can be caused by osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint condition. Whatever the cause, chronic knee pain may require you to be on medication for the long term, along with the associated risks and potential for dependency. Or it may require you to have regular injections to manage the pain.

There is another option for treating chronic knee pain, one that is minimally invasive and long-lasting.

Our minimally invasive treatment for chronic knee pain in Denver:

Genicular Knee Ablation

Genicular knee ablation uses radiofrequency energy to intentionally ablate or “damage” the genicular nerves, which transmit pain signals from the knee to the brain. By ablating these nerves, pain signals are disrupted and pain is no longer experienced.

Performed on an outpatient basis, genicular knee ablation does not require general anesthesia, scarring or a lengthy recovery. You are able to return home after the procedure and return to daily activities with some restrictions.
