Sclerotherapy

Treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins

Spider veins are small, unsightly veins (typically on the legs) that cause skin discoloration but do not rise above the skin like varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive medical procedure to treat spider veins and smaller varicose veins.

During the sclerotherapy procedure, a clinician injects a special solution called a sclerosant into the spider or varicose veins. This irritates the lining of the vein wall, causing it to collapse and close. Over time, the veins shrink and are naturally absorbed by the body.

Sclerotherapy prevents the further growth and enlargement of the veins.

It can reduce or eliminate pain or discomfort, and is very effective at improving the appearance of the skin. It is an outpatient procedure, which requires no general anesthesia, and you can resume most activities without delay.

For the treatment of spider veins that are not causing symptoms, cosmetic sclerotherapy is a treatment option that is not covered by insurance. However, the cost of this treatment is affordable. Please contact our office for pricing information.
